LITTLE LEGENDS LEAGUE POLICY

COACHES

  • Each team must have two (2) coaches. This is a requirement of the county. This can consist of the regular coach and a parent. Both coaches much fill out a Little Legends coaching application. This requirement must be met as each team practice will require both coaches to be present.

GAMES and PRACTICES

Details on practices and games are as follow:

Practice Guidelines

  • Each team will have one (1) practice per week.
  • Each practice will be for (1) hour. This is subject to change depending upon other applicable guidelines (e.g., if available gym space does not allow for the break required by the ensuing guideline then practice intervals may be reduced to forty-five (45) minutes).
  • There will be a 15-minute “break” in between each practice. No team in a subsequent practice may enter the gym until the team in the preceding practice has exited the gym. The team in the subsequent practice must remain in their cars until the team in the preceding practice has fully left the gym.
  • Practices will be limited to one (1) team per practice slot. This means that for practices only one (1) team will be in the gym at any given time.
  • All players will be required to bring their own ball.
  • The sharing of basketballs (e.g., team drills) should be minimized as much as possible and the sharing of other equipment (e.g., pennies) should be avoided. Only coaches should handle other equipment used during practice (e.g., cones).
  • Masks do not have to be worn by active participants in games or practices. At this time, masks are to be worn by all other attendees.
  • Coaches and players should bring hand sanitizer to use at a minimum before and after each practice.
  • ONLY coaches and players are permitted in the gym for each practice session. No spectators (e.g., parents) are permitted in the gym during practice, and all parents/guardians are asked to remain outside in their cars.
  • Two (2) coaches MUST be present for each practice session. Teams that only have one (1) coach present will NOT be permitted to practice.

     Games

  • Each team will have one (1) game per week.
  • Each game will be for (1) hour.
  • There will be a 15-minute “break” in between each game. No teams in a subsequent game may enter the gym until both teams in the preceding game have exited the gym. Both teams in the subsequent game must remain in their cars until the teams in the preceding game have fully left the gym.
  • Spectators are permitted and must comply with all requirements in this policy.
    • Masks do not have to be worn by active participants in games or practices. At this time, masks are to be worn by all other attendees.
  • Players must not share water bottles.
  • Players on the sidelines should socially distanced as much as possible.
  • Coaches and players should bring hand sanitizer to use at a before and after the game and also during the game on the sidelines as much as possible.
  • The home team provides the game ball, which must be wiped down (i.e., sanitized) prior to providing the game ball to the game officials. The home team must sanitize the ball during time outs and between quarters and at halftime.  

 

PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITIES

PARENT/GUARDIAN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Do NOT have your child participate in a practice or a game if a) your child’s temperature is above 98.6 degrees, or b) if they are sick and/or exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 or the flu.
    • Please check your child’s temperature before arriving to each game and practice and ensure it is not above 98.6.
  • Wash and sanitize your child’s uniform, ball, water bottle, and other equipment before and after each game and practice.
  • Refrain from having your child enter the gym until the preceding team(s) have exited.
  • By allowing your child to show up and participate in a practice or game, you confirm that:
    • Your child does not presently have a fever or has not had a fever in the previous 72 hours.
    • Your child does not have shortness of breath, a cough, and/or sore throat.
    • No one in your house is ill with a fever, shortness of breath, a cough, and/or sore throat.
    • Your child nor anyone else in your house has had contact with someone known to have COVID-19 or is under investigation for COVID-19 within the last 14 days.
       

PLAYER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Stay home if you have a fever (temperature above 98.6 degrees) or are sick and/or exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 or the flu.
  • Bring your own uniform, ball, water bottle, and other equipment to each practice and game.
  • Bring your own hand sanitizer to each practice and game and use regularly throughout both and in accordance with this policy.
  • Follow the drop-off and pick-up guidelines laid out in this policy.
  • Do not share your equipment with anyone else.
  • Follow your coach’s instructions as related to this policy.
     

COACH RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Stay home if you have a fever (temperature above 98.6 degrees) or are sick and/or exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 or the flu.
  • Must wear a mask. 
  • Ensure only players and coaches are in the gym during practices.
  • Encourage social distancing protocols are followed whenever possible.
  • Ensure your team’s timely exit of the facility after each practice and game. 
  • Comply with ALL requirements of Little Legends League Covid Policy, as listed in this document.
     

REFEREE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Stay home if you have a fever (temperature above 98.6 degrees) or are sick and/or exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 or the flu.
  • Must practice social distancing as much as possible during and in between games.
  • Must limit contact with equipment during the game as much as possible, with the exception of the game basketball.
  • Comply with ALL requirements of Little Legends Winter League Policy, as listed in this document.

 

NON-COMPLIANCE

Failure to comply with any guideline laid out in this policy will result in the offending team’s immediate dismissal from the Little Legends basketball season. No refund will be provided to any team that is dismissed for failure to comply with this policy.
